Set Point

The temperature parameter within a wash program that is used alongside temperature sensors to
control heating of tank fluids.

Si/S Instruments

A range of instruments made by Intuitive Surgical within the brand of Da Vinci. The cleaning and
processing of Si/S instruments requires procedures (as described in this manual) that are specific
to the instrument type.

Solution

A substance dissolved in a liquid, normally water.

Sonic irrigation

The use of ultrasonic waves to dislodge contaminants from instrument surfaces, and flushing to
remove debris from instruments.

Spray arm

A beam with holes that rotates during wash operations, spraying fluids over the exterior of
instruments in the baskets.

Spraying

A action within the wash cycle, when fluids are pushed (under pressure) through basket nozzles
and shower over instruments to assist cleaning.

Supervisor

An operator who is able to access Supervisor Menu by using a valid supervisor identification
number.

Tank

Cavity within unit where instruments are washed. Also referred to as "chamber".
