5-6. MANUAL MECHA Menu
This menu is used to perform mechanical operation
manually. It contains seven items.
Restart the power or open and close the door when making
print after mechanical operation is performed using this
menu. After that, initialize the mechanism and make print.
HEAD
The thermal head position is changed every time you press

keys as HOME

PINCH
The pinch roller position is changed every time you press

CAPSTAN
A capstan roller rotates in the forward direction when you
press the

key. It rotates in the reverse direction when
you press the
←
key.
(The capstan roller rotates proportionally to the amount in
which paper can be carried by about 250 mm.)
RIBBON
The ribbon is wound while you press and hold down the
→
key.
TAKEUP RIBBON
A takeup motor rotates for two seconds in the forward
direction when you press the
→
key and in the reverse
direction when you press the
←
key.
SUPPLY RIBBON
A supply motor rotates for two seconds in the forward
direction when you press the
→
key and in the reverse
direction when you press the
←
key.
CUTTER
The AWAY position

home position and the cutter
move every time you press the
←
and
→
keys.
5-5. SETUP Menu
This menu is used to perform each adjustment and setting
of this unit. It contains five items.
HEAD VOLTAGE
The voltage of a thermal head can be adjusted.
Adjust the voltage using
←
and
→
keys and press the
EXEC key. A test pattern (16 STEP) is printed
automatically.
TAKEUP TENSION
The target tension on the takeup side of a ribbon can be
adjusted.
Adjust the target tension using
←
and
→
keys and press
the EXEC key.
SENSOR ADJUST
A ribbon mark sensor and paper FG sensor can be adjusted.
Select a sensor using
←
and
→
keys and press the EXEC
key. Adjustment is started.

Ribbon mark sensor
After the light emitting quantity (LE-352 board) of a
ribbon mark sensor is properly adjusted, the threshold level
on the light receiving side is determined from the sensor
output (SE-934 board) at that time. For more details, refer
to Section 2-2.

Paper FG sensor
The threshold level on the light receiving side of the paper
FG sensor is determined by rotating the capstan motor. For
more details, refer to Section 2-2.
PRINT OFFSET
Like PRINT OFFSET in the normal mode, the print
position in the direction of paper width can be adjusted.
The print position is moved to the left 0.6 mm at a time
every time you press the
←
key. It is moved to the right
0.6 mm at a time every time you press the
→
key.
EEPROM INIT
The information of EEPROM is initialized. Information is
initialized when you press the EXEC key. However, do
not initialize information except when replacing the MA-
168 board because all setting values or adjustment values
are reset.
