6-5 On-the-Fly Editing
Specifying edit point, splicing them together in real time while monitoring
recording material is called on-the-fly editing. The results are similar to
recording manually using the REC, PLAY, and STOP buttons, but on-the-fly
editing has the following advantages
• After specifying an interval, editing is not confirmed until you press the
AUTO EDIT button (possible to write over intervals several times).
• Because you are managing the program from the control panel, later
modifications are possible.
To edit on-the-fly
Edit on-the-fly using the following procedure.
1
Select a port for recording as the PLAYER device.
2
Input the PLAYER IN and OUT points while monitoring the recording
image.
3
When using a selected cut, press the AUTO EDIT button to confirm.
When not using a selected cut, simply write over the IN and OUT points.
4
Repeat steps 2 and 3 above as necessary, just as with continuous editing.
The result is destination material that consists only of spliced cuts
confirmed by AUTO EDIT.
Note
You can also select the R1, R2, or R3 port as the player when editing on-the-
fly.
