Editing
6-2 Basic Editing Operations

Load the material to be used as source material to the port specified as the
current player device.
• If the material you are using is already loaded, you do not need to
perform steps 1 and 2.
For how to load material, see Section 3-2-6, “Loading and Unloading Material
(LOAD/UNLOAD)” (page 3-7).

Hold down the MODE button and press the L2 button to enter Edit mode.

Press the L1 (Assemble/All), L2 (Video), or L3 to L6 (Ch1 to Ch4) keys to
select the edit channel.

Press the RECORDER or PLAYER button, and select the device where
you want to set the edit point. The button pressed lights and you can
confirm the current device on the LCD.

Turn the search dial in either jog or shuttle mode to search for the edit point.
For playback in jog and shuttle modes, see Section 5-2-2, “Variable Speed
Playback in Jog, Shuttle, and Variable Modes” (page 5-3).

Holding down the ENTRY button, press the IN (or OUT) button at the
point where you want to set an IN (or OUT) point. Alternatively, you can
hold down the IN (or OUT) button and press the ENTRY button.
Once the IN (or OUT) point is set, the IN (or OUT) button stops flashing
and lights. IN and OUT point time data is set, and the duration set for both
of these points appears on the LCD.

Repeat steps 5 to 7 and set all necessary edit points.
Once all the necessary edit points are set (for the three necessary points out
of the RECORDER and PLAYER IN and OUT points, see “Automatically
setting edit points”, below), the PREVIEW and AUTO EDIT buttons flash,
and you can preview or start editing.

Notes
• Edit data cannot be selected until you press the AUTO EDIT button and start
editing. When you move to the next edit, first start the edit execution and
specify the current data.
• To display time data of the selected IN and OUT points, and the duration in
the current port area on the LCD (time data display area), perform the
following procedure.
Confirm IN and OUT point time data: press the IN or OUT button
Confirm duration: press the IN and OUT buttons simultaneously
• When invalid edit points are set, the DELETE button starts to flash. If this
occurs, edits cannot be made. Delete all unnecessary data with the DELETE
button.
