1
.
If your Theater Network is isolated from the Internet then
there is no need for DNS Address assignments and they
can be 0.0.0.0 (as shown). However, any planned access to
the Internet, even if that access is via a firewall or
corporate network will require DNS Addresses be set.
Address assignments can be either Static or Automatic (if
DHCP is in use). Consult with your network administrator
for additional information about DNS settings.
Static (DNS address)
A static (or predetermined) DNS address can be
assigned to the SMS Server’s Theater Network
connection. To set the Static DNS address option, tap

decimal” format and must include the “dot(s)” as
part of the entry.

tap

and the Enter Address popup
appears. To set a new DNS Server IP address, tap

server is available you can select the Automatic DNS

addresses are included in information obtained from
the DHCP server.

AUTOMATIC
in the IP ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT
group. The appropriate value for the Primary DNS IP
address and Secondary DNS Server IP address are
obtained from the DHCP server.
1.The Domain Name System (DNS) associates IP ad-
dresses with so-called domain names. Essentially, it
serves as a phone book by translating human readable
computer hostnames, e.g. www.yahoo.com, into the
IP addresses networking equipment uses to deliver in-
formation. DNS is an essential component of contem-
porary Internet use.
