Projector Control

Basic control of selected Projector system functions are
available from the Projectionist Terminal. In the
following, reference to the “Projector” means the projector
subsystem only. When in STANDBY many of the
functions are unavailable. However, other functions
remain active and are accessible via either the Projectionist
Terminal or the SMS Controller application. To place the
Auditorium Unit in Standby or to Shutdown the
Auditorium Unit refer to

“Power ON/OFF” on page 20

.

Note:

When the Projector is in STANDBY mode the

system remains active and accessible via either the
Projectionist Terminal or the SMS Controller application.
When the Auditorium Unit is Shutdown only the Power
ON/OFF button on the enclosure remains active.

Projector System
Controls are available on
the Projector Control
pane. To access the
Projector Control pane,
tap

Menu

 and then tap

Projector Control

. The

PROJECTOR
CONTROL pane appears.

From the PROJECTOR
CONTROL pane you can
place the Projector in
STANDBY or return it to
ON (operational mode),
DOUSE the image output,
and recall a preset
configuration for the
Digital Cinema projection
system.

Set Projector to ON/STANDBY

Selecting STANDBY insures that various components of
the Digital Cinema projector will shutdown in a orderly
manner and, where necessary, fans will continue to run so
proper cooling is received during the process.

Refer to “Power ON/OFF” on page 20 to Shutdown the
Auditorium Unit. DO NOT REMOVE AC MAINS
POWER TO SHUT DOWN THE SYSTEM AS
COOLING WILL BE LOST AND KDMs MUST BE
RELOADED.

• Set Projector To ON

To place the Projector in the ON mode, tap

Menu

, tap

Projector Control

and then in the Power group tap

ON

. The system will transition from STANDBY to

ON and the projection lamp(s) will be illuminated.

While operation is possible in approximately 5
minutes optimum image presentation will not be
realized for a minimum of 30 minutes. This additional
time is required to allow the imaging panels and
projector lamps to achieve operating temperature and
stabilize.

• Set Projector To STANDBY

To place the Projector in STANDBY mode, on the
Projectionist Terminal tap

Menu

, tap

Projector

Control

and then, in the Power group, tap

STANDBY

. You will be prompted to confirm the

action. Tap

YES

 to confirm.

The Projector will transition from an operational mode
to STANDBY. This includes internal fans which will
continue to run until the lamps/lamp assembly has
cooled.

Douse the Projector

The DOUSER control function in the PROJECTOR
CONTROL screen serves the same purpose as the
“douser” on the film projector. In fact it works in much the
same way by placing a opaque blade in the output light
path.

When you set the projector DOUSER to ON the
auditorium screen goes dark. However, this only applies to
the image portion of the presentation. The audio portion of
