The SiliCycle MiniBlock system enables parallel solvent removal, washing, cleavage and purification.
The vacuum-to-waste capability of the Shaking Station can be utilized for solvent removal and resin washing. Alternatively,
an empty vacuum collection base can be used to pull solvents to waste.
Connect a vacuum line (with an in-line trap for solvents) to the connector on the back of the shaker top.
Open the SiliCycle MiniBlock slide valve before pulling a vacuum. The valve opens by turning the actuator screw counterclockwise two full turns.
It is not necessary to turn the screw further than two full turns to apply a vacuum.
The waste will be drawn into the solvent collection trap by the vacuum. Solvents drain more quickly if you remove the Top Plate
and septum during washing.
The immediate cleanup of the solvent waste station is recommended after SiliCycle MiniBlocks have been removed.
WARNING
:
Always return the system to ambient temperature before proceeding to the
next operation.

In some instances additional flow is needed to drain the reaction tubes (e.g. clogging of the frits occurs).
To accelerate solvent drainage to waste, vacuum evacuation of Reaction Tubes can be increased with use of air pressure from the tube tops.
Three devices can be used to provide this positive pressure: (See section 5.1.2.1 Air Push Assist Device.)
