2.3 COMMISSIONING
2.3.1 Safety Tests on the TC12 Instation
2.3.1.1 Test Equipment Required
Multimeter (e.g. Fluke 77 or similar).
Comark Insulation Meter 1905 (or similar capable of 1000 V).
Clare R133R10 Earth Continuity Tester (or similar).
RCD Tester (e.g. Seaward RC500).
2.3.1.2 Safety Considerations
Statutory and Company legislation relating to safety must be followed. During
testing hazardous voltages will be present, only qualified personnel are allowed to
operate the equipment with hazardous voltages present.
ELECTRIC SHOCK RISK - hazardous voltages are present within the equipment -
observe any warning labels and do not remove any protective covers.
2.3.1.3 Pre-test Inspection
Check that the correct fuses are fitted to the Instation (see section 2.4.9 for a
description of fuses fitted to the Instation). Carry out a visual inspection to check
all earth connections are made and that the associated screws are done up firmly.
Check that the mains cables are plugged into each PSU PCB and PC used.
2.3.1.4 Outline of Tests to be Performed
The sequence of tests will be:
(1)
Earth Continuity Check
(2)
Insulation Check (1000 V DC Test)
(3) RCD
Test.
2.3.1.5 Earth Continuity/Insulation Resistance Test Set Up
The Instation is disconnected from the mains during these tests.
2.3.1.6 Earth Continuity Test Procedure
Connect one probe of the Earth Continuity Tester to the Earth wire of the Instation
mains cable. Connect the other probe to the following points (it may be necessary
to find a suitable place to test without paint) and make sure the reading is below
