Issue 10
CMSL
Control not starting on time more then one second between control
messages.
BIC, CMS
If Instation not transmitting sufficient bytes for this OTU if last OTU
on line.
CCRC
If Instation transmitting too many or too few control bytes for this OTU.
POSSIBLE FAULT:
Minor incorrect timing / configuration for this OTU
at Instation
. If already tested at Instation and no
control errors were recorded in Outstation or Monitor
modes (test 6 and 7), then this would indicate a
problem with the line.
If
ONLY
any of the following faults are recorded when in Instation or Monitor
modes:
RMSL
Reply not starting on time
BIR, RMS
If OTU not replying with sufficient bytes
RCRC
If OTU replying with too many reply bytes
CNL2
OTU replying too early.
POSSIBLE FAULT:
Minor incorrect timing / configuration in OTU.
If any of the following faults are recorded when in Instation or Monitor mode:
CD (green led) on Instation modem board not lighting.
On test set the following errors occur
RFE, RCRC, IOR, SRM, BIR, RSE, RTE,
POSSIBLE FAULT:
Data corruption due OTU
. Check for baud rate incorrect,
2/4 wire selection incorrect or full/half duplex selection incorrect, for
the line.
4.5.3.3 Fault finding - Where to start?
Firstly, it is best to determine from the errors recorded on the UTC TCC whether it
appears to be a complete line that is faulty or individual OTU(s); i.e. some but not
all OTUs experiencing faulty communications, and keep this in mind whilst testing.
Then ensure that the test set is configured correctly for the line in question. Check
the configuration against the UTC TCC database information for the line. If
possible this information should have previously been validated in the test set as
detailed in "Commissioning a line".
IF
it is acceptable to take all the OTUs on the line OFF LINE set the test set in
Outstation mode.
ELSE
set it in monitor mode.
Connect the test set to the appropriate line test jacks on the modem boards in the
TC12 Instation cabinet.
