Overview of Programming Options
Details of how to program the Universal Controller (CVS-012) via its built-in programming interfaces are given in Section 2 of this
guide, where each sub-section describes seperate features of the device. However, when reading Section 2 it will be useful to bear in
mind that this device is produced exclusively for RSG and Ford SVP (Special Vehicle Preparations) by a company called MHE Electronics
and as such cross-reference is often made to the ‘MHE Unit’ and it’s generic type code CVS-012. Also, please note if using the PC
software these cross-references will occur in some of the on-screen programming modules.
For more sophisticated applications where more detailed programming is required this can be achieved by using the PC based software
that is available separately - part number UNI-PRO-001. In order to use the programming software the PC must be connected to the
Universal Controller (CVS-012) via a programming Dongle - part number UNI-DON-001.
The programming software comes in the form of a CD that is normally supplied ‘Free of Charge’ and which also
contains instructions for use. Although this software is easy to use by anyone who has the necessary
technical skills, some training is advisable in order to obtain the full benefits of this tool. As such RSG
can offer training for this facility at its premises that is normally ‘Free of Charge’ for main motor dealers
and installers. Training is also available on-site at customers premises, however, a nominal charge
is normally made to cover expenses. Although RSG can supply the software CD to suitably
qualified persons, it cannot offer technical support to customers who have not taken part
in a formal training scheme.
Entering the Universal Controller (CVS-012) Programming Mode
Before attempting to perform any detailed programming as described in Section 2 the programming mode of the device must be entered
by using the set-up menu as follows:
Using the Set-up Menu
The LCD Display normally displays the ‘status’ of the device. So to enter the set-up menu, press and hold the ‘Enter’ key until the
display shows
‘Set-up Menu’
. The menu will return back to
‘Status Mode’
after there has been a period of inactivity of 20 seconds.
Settings are not automatically set when returning to ‘Status Mode’. To save settings and for instructions on how to set various
functions and detailed programming instructions refer to Section 2.
