operational notes.
Connect the Universal Controller (CVS-012) as shown in section K4 using standard 21watt automotive bulbs and toggle switch. Please
note these items are not supplied with the unit. Then also connect the chosen handset, via the extension lead as this ensures the
correct signal orientation, to the Universal Controller (CVS-012). Note these connections can be made in addition to those already
made in section K2.
Ensure that the positive supply connected to pins A and B on the main power feed connector is suitably fused. For testing purposes
5 amps will be sufficient.
Flashing Head Light Activation
By operating the ‘H/L (Head Light) Flash’ switch (note this has a latching function) on the handset, Light Heads 4 and 5 will then
illuminate. This indicates that Pin 3 on Bank A and Pin 1 on Bank B are active which can be confirmed by noticing the LED adjacent to
them are illuminated. Pressing the ‘H/L Flash’ switch again deactivates its operation. As there are various Head Light Flash patterns
available please refer to the relevant ‘Installation Guide’ section for full details of this.
Handset Back Lighting Activation
By operating the switch SWT3 connected to the Manual Control Inputs will cause the handset to illuminate. The operation of this switch
simulates the vehicles sidelights being turned on and so illuminates the handset making it suitable for use in dim or dark conditions.
Note this back light illumination is in addition to the switch illuminating when it is normally activated.
For Vehicles with Auxiliary Batteries
The Universal Controller (CVS-12) is used in applications where the vehicle is fitted with an auxiliary battery there may be the possibility
of voltage ‘back feed’ via the vehicle’s headlamp wiring particularly if one of the batteries becomes significantly discharged (has gone
flat). The result being that the fuse associated with the headlamp bulbs ‘blows’.
To avoid this happening it is recommended that the headlamp flash wiring should be applied as shown in the following drawings.
