Cascade Installation Guide

1. Inventory and inspection 

1.

 

Check the shipping documentation to ensure that all cartons have arrived. 

2.

 

If you have not already done so, visually inspect each carton for 
indications of damage.  

3.

 

If any cartons are damaged or missing, contact Riverbed Support before 
continuing.

Unpack the contents of the shipping cartons and inventory the contents 
against the shipping documentation.

If any components of the order are damaged or missing, contact Riverbed 
Support. 

2. Preparations for installation 

Before installing the chassis, ensure that the following considerations have been 
addressed:

Data sources

Rack space 

•

 

Power 

•

 

Cooling 

•

 

Network connections 

•

 

Access to network 

Data sources 

The Cascade appliance must be receiving traffic information from at least one 
source in order for you to verify successful installation and configuration.   
There are two approaches to setting up data sources:  

•

 

Set up the available data sources and point them to the IP address of 
the Cascade appliance before you install it. 

•

 

Install the Cascade appliance up to the point of verification, go install 
or configure the data sources, and then return to the Cascade appliance 
to complete the installation verification.
