3. APPLYING ADHESIVE
A. Brush the rubber adhesive to the roughened place and let sit for 10min. Apply a second
coat of adhesive and let sit for another 10min.
B. When the adhesive is nearly dry (doesn’t stick to the hand), affix the rubber repair patch.
C. Join the surfaces and release any air bubbles with a trowel. Make the area smooth and
even by then applying pressure with a hand roller. Check all edges to make sure the repair
patch is glued well.
Note: If the solution becomes too dry between coats, or if any air bubbles are
not completely rolled out, or if the mating surfaces are dry, a ‘dry joint’
will result. The joint will appear sound, but it can be quite easily pulled
apart. When testing with a finger, the solution must show aggressive
tack, but no pick-up of solution. Rolling must be firm, working from the
center of the area toward the edges, expelling the air.
D. Careful attention is to be given when rolling down seams and patches, particularly on
curved edges. Puckers and channels must be avoided, and all seams MUST be rolled twice.
Caution: Do not use rollers over 2” wide.
Apply maximum available pressure
Use in a well ventilated room
Keep ambient moisture as low as possible
Note: A small amount of solvent may be used for removing surplus adhesive
from repair areas.
E. The gas tightness can be tested after 24 hours set time at room temperature. If there is
any upward movement of the repair patch, it will need to be repatched.
F. The working pressure can be tested after 48 hours set time at room temperature.
