Caution: Use short handle strokes during tensioning. BE CAREFUL – Too much tension
will break the straps.
34. After the raft and vacuum bag are enclosed in the bottom container shell, place the top container
shell over the bottom shell being sure to align the cutout hole with the grooves in the foam plug.
35. Put two ratchet straps around the container, making sure the straps do not cover the grooves in
the container. Tighten the ratchet straps uniformly around the container. Make sure the upper
half of the container mates with the lower half of the container correctly. (See Fig. 27)

36. Run the two (2) container straps along the grooves in the container then slide the straps
37. Slide the straps through heat-shrink sleeves. Keep the strap ID tag as close as possible to the
crimp – the maximum installed separation between these is 39.4in. (10mm). (See Fig. 28)
38. Apply the tensioning tool to the strap at a point half way across the two rims. Operate the handle
to tension the strap until the base of the tensioning tool rests in the lower container rim. Secure
the strap with a crimp. (See Fig. 29)
