2. DETAIL
Standard Equipment
The Cruiser and Commander Liferafts are equipped with the following items and features
(Figs. 1&2):
1. Mooring Line
This line is used for positioning the inflated raft for boarding.
2. Painterline
Pulling on this 36ft. (11m) line will activate the inflation system and begin raft deployment. It can
also be used as a mooring line after activation.
3. Knife
A floating raft knife features a sharp blade with a rounded edge to minimize the possibility of
damage to the raft. It is attached with a lanyard for security. The raft knife is used to cut the
painterline attaching the raft to the boat when the decision to cast off has been made.
4. Righting Line
This line is located across the bottom of the raft and is used for turning over (righting) a capsized
raft.
5. Life Lines/Grasp Lines
Available in the interior and exterior of the raft, these lines provide survivors with a place to grasp
from the water or while seated in the raft.
6. Reflective Tape
Attached to the canopy, this provides enhanced visibility. Available in Offshore Commander 2.0
liferafts ONLY.
7. Heaving Line with Quoit
This 100ft. (30m) line is equipped with a heaving ring (quoit). Stowed near the interior grasp
line, the heaving line is thrown or floated to survivors to be pulled into the raft.
8. Sea Anchor
A self-deploying sea anchor is provided to increase water drag and reduce wind drift. It is
connected by an anchor cord 100ft. (30m) to a high strength patch on the raft.
