Installing the L2W-323 Gateway

A power cable with a plug suited to your country may be supplied with the L2W-323
Gateway. If a power cable with a plug is not supplied, a power cord is supplied to which
you can connect an appropriate grounded plug. The main power cord has a molded IEC
socket that connects to the Gateway power inlet. Wire the national standard power plug as
follows:

Brown lead

Live (phase)

Blue lead

Neutral

Green/yellow lead

Earth ground

To connect the power cable to the Gateway

1. Plug the power cord into the power socket on the rear panel of the Gateway.

2. Make sure that the power switch on the rear panel is off.

3. Connect the three-prong power cable plug to a grounded AC outlet.

LAN Connection

The L2W-323 Gateway has one 10/100Base-T port providing four half-duplex 10 Mbps
Ethernet connections. You connect the Gateway to the LAN via a 10/100Base-T hub.

Before you connect a new Gateway to the LAN it is recommended to connect the Gateway
to a PC with a 10/100Base-T LAN interface to assign the Gateway its new IP address. For
this connection a crossover Ethernet cable is required.

LAN cables are not provided with the L2W-323 Gateway. The LAN cable you use depends
on the connection unit:

A crossover Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors

The Ethernet cable should not be longer than 15 meters. For information on cables, see
Appendix A, “Cable Connectors and Pin-outs.”

To connect the Gateway directly to a PC before connection to the LAN

1. Connect one of the RJ-45 8-pin connectors of the crossover Ethernet cable to the

Gateway LAN port 1.

2. Connect the other RJ-45 8-pin connector to the PC’s 10/100Base-T LAN interface.
