Servicing the Gateway

Changing IVR Messages

You can change Gateway internal IVR recorded messages with the Interactive Voice
Response (IVR) Recording Utility.

The Default IVR Recorded Messages

The Gateway can save up to four different recordings that correspond with the different
stages of processing a call through the internal IVR. Following are the default recordings in
the order they are played during the call processing procedure:

An Opening Sound. The Gateway plays the opening sound when the IVR answers the
call. The opening sound bridges a reception time discrepancy between different calling
devices. H.323 terminals in general receive the reply sound after telephone devices,
and the opening sound prevents the IVR welcome message from being cut off. You
can edit the opening sound length to suit your network needs. If you have an earlier
IVR version that does not support four recorded messages, the IVR does not play this
sound at all.

A Welcome recording. The IVR plays this recording after the Opening Sound and
repeats it twice:

“

Thank you for calling. If you know your party’s extension number, dial it now

followed by the pound sign (#). To speak to an operator please press star (*).”

An Operator recording. The IVR notifies the caller that it is transferring the call to an
operator:

“Please hold while your call is being transferred to an operator.”

!"

A Thank You recording. The IVR notifies the caller that the Gateway reviewed the
extension dialed and that it is transferring the call to the requested extension:

“Thank you. Please hold.”
