Installing the rail kits into a threaded-hole EIA 4-post rack
Before you begin:
•
Make sure the distance between the front and rear rack posts is between 475 – 700 mm.
•
Find out the threaded-screw hole size on the rack posts. EIA rails accommodate M5, M6,
#10, or #12 screws. M5 and #10 screws are strongly recommended for this installation. If
you want to use M6 or #12 screws, they must be flat-head screws.
Perform the following steps to install a rail kit on a threaded-hole EIA 4-post rack. The steps
match the numbers in
.
1. Remove the front alignment spacer and screw.
2. Attach the adapter to the rear of the rail kit with the supplied M5 screws (2x).
3. Bend the two front tabs inward 30 degrees.
4. Install the front of the rail to the front of the rack using two countersunk mounting screws.
5. Align the rear adapter screw holes to the back of the rack (outside surface) and hold it in
place with two countersunk screws.
6. Install the back of the rail to the rear adapter and tighten the two countersunk mounting
screws.
7. Repeat the same process above for the other rail kit.
