Step 5. Perform the check-out procedure
Perform the following check-out procedure at least one time to make sure the R220 is
functioning properly and to familiarize yourself with the power-up sequence and system
messages that occur during power-up.
1. Turn on the R220 and display. The power-on indicator light illuminates and performs the
power-on self test (POST).
2. Start-up messages are shown by default. If an error is detected, record the error message
and call your service representative.
3. If POST completes successfully, continue with the next task.
Step 6. Run the setup utility program
If you need to change system defaults, such as setting a password, follow these steps to run
the setup utility program.
1. Turn on the R220. If it is already on, restart the system.
2. When prompted, press the Delete or F2 key to start the setup utility. The prompt appears
before the operating system starts to load.
3. Follow the instructions in the setup utility interface.
Step 7. Finish the installation
The R220 hardware is now set up and you are ready to finish the installation by installing the
required software and completing the paperwork. The final steps are different for various
configurations and applications, but you can use the following checklist as a guide.
•
Install the operating system. Refer to the documentation and instructions supplied with
your operating system.
• Install system board drivers. Drivers can be downloaded from www.radisys.com .
• Install device drivers. Refer to the information that came with the options you installed for
instructions on installing device drivers.
• Install the application programs. Refer to the documentation and instructions supplied
with the application programs.
• Record the identification numbers. The R220 has important identification information that
you will need if you have it serviced or if you need to order duplicate keys. Record the
model number, serial number, and key number for future reference.
