User Manual 3153
Using The Instrument 3-50
The query:
SEQuence:ADVance:SOURce?
queries the sequence advance source and returns INT, EXT, TTLT<n>
or ECLT0.
Synchronizing 2 or
More Channels
The Model 3153 has three independent output channels. Each channel
has its own sample clock generator, trigger inputs, sequence generator
and control logic. There is no synchronization between channels unless
the channel synchronization is programmed. The channel coupling
command links one master channel with one or two slave channels.
The generator is designed so that only channel 1 can become master.
Channels 2, 3 or both, when coupled to channel 1, are designated as
slave channels. A slave channel receives its sample clock and trigger
input from the master channel. All other parameters can be programmed
separately for the slave channel.
On power-up, the internal reset routine sets all channels to operate
independently. Use the following command to synchronize two or three
channels:
INSTrument:COUPle {NONE | 2 | 3 | ALL}
NONE
designates three free-running channels. Besides waveforms,
output levels, and operating mode, each channel has control over its
own sample clock and trigger input.
Selecting
“2”
or
“3”
automatically modifies channel 1 to become master
and the other channel as a slave. In this configuration, channel 2 or 3
as slave can no longer operate independently from the master channel
because the sample clock and the trigger input for the slave channels
are sourced by the master channel. After executing this command, he
output waveforms from channels 1 and 2 or channels 1 and 3 are
synchronized.
In master-slave mode, the following parameters are overridden by the
master channel: sample clock, trigger mode, and trigger input.
Waveform shape, sample clock divider, amplitude, filter, and output
state remain unchanged.
The
ALL
parameter modifies both channels 2 and 3 from free-running
channels to slave channels. In this configuration, the sample clocks and
the trigger inputs for the slave channels are sourced by the master
channel. After executing this command, the output waveforms on all 3
channels are synchronized.
The query:
INSTrument:COUPle?
queries channel synchronization setting and returns NONE, 2, 3 or ALL.
