Amplitude-Offset
Interaction
Offset voltage is injected at the input of the output amplifier. Therefore,
reducing the output amplitude has an automatic affect on the offset
voltage. The 3153 has three internal amplitude ranges that are
transparent to the user. However, it is necessary to understand these
ranges in case a specific amplitude-offset combination is needed. The
relationship between the internal amplitude ranges, their respective
offset ranges and the resultant peak range limits are given in the
equation and the table below.

Amplitude-offset settings outside these limits generate "settings conflict"
errors. Amplitude setting determines the range of the offset. For example,
lets compute the maximum allowed offset range for an amplitude of
800mV:
Offset Range = 500mV - 800mV/2 = 0 to 100mV
Programming 200mV in this case generates a settings conflict error.
Selecting the Filter
Type
Two filters are available for each channel. These filters have fixed cutoff
frequencies, the characteristics of which are specified in Appendix A.
The built-in filters are switched in downstream from the DAC circuit and
are used for reducing the noise, harmonics and spurious signals above
the specified cutoff frequency.
The built-in filters are available to the user in standard, arbitrary and
sequenced modes. The only built-in function that does not allow external
control of the filter is the sine waveshape, where filters are used to
shape the sine from a rectangular waveform.
Filters are selected by their reference number, not be their cutoff
frequencies. Use the following command to select the filter type:
OUTPut:FILTer {NONE | 1 | 2 | ALL}
selects the filter for the currently active function.
