3.1.1 Softkey functions
(Softkeys)
<S1> Pre-start
How to use pre-start
Pre-start is a useful function for avoiding
faulty patches, e.g. when starting off, or
for avoiding the need to reset after a pause
during a pass.
The function is straightforward. To use
it, the fan must be running at its nominal
speed. Press softkey
<S1> (fig. 10)
once to start the machine sowing at the
calibration rate. The softkey flashes during
the waiting time X.
Once the waiting time is over, two short
audible signals are emitted.
The sowing machine must now be rapidly
put in motion.
For this step, the reaction time Y is allowed
following the audible signal.
After this time has elapsed, the machine is
controlled by the ground wheel or radar, as
normal.
The two time values should be carefully
selected to avoid gaps or piling up when
starting off.
Pre-start can also be initiated when the
machine is raised (e.g. when turning at
the start of the field), to avoid a stop when
sowing again.
(Ensure that the fan speed is
sufficient).
For settings, see section 4.3.4.2
<S2> Metering wheel stop
The function for manually stopping the
metering wheel can be useful, e.g. when
raising the machine at the end of the field.
In this case, the metering can be switched
off by pressing key
<S2> (fig. 11)
even
before raising the machine, with the result
that seed no longer lies on the surface.
The metering wheel stop can be cancelled
by pressing the
<S2>
key again, or it is
cancelled automatically when raising is over.
For machines equipped with radar,
the metering wheel stop key must be
activated when a pause is to be made
while working.
Otherwise, when the
machine is running with sufficient fan speed,
and the machine is in the working position,
metering may start from time to time
through movements picked up by the radar.
