Media Inventory

When the SuperLoader 3A Series is powered up, it undergoes a media
inventory. Each tape cartridge in the autoloader is inserted into the
A-Series tape drive and inventoried.
Ethernet Interfaces
1
To get the full performance of the SuperLoader 3A Series autoloader, it is
advisable to use a GigE network.
The autoloader connects to your host server (see
figure 1
) via a built-in
Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interface (A-Series tape drive Ethernet port),
allowing the host to send data and commands automatically.

Note:
There is a limitation on the number of files that can be stored
on a media cartridge based on the size of the files and the size
of the filenames stored on the table of contents (TOC) region of
the tape. For example, the A-Series SDLT 600A tape drive can
hold approximately 8,000 files. This limit can be significantly
smaller if the filenames are long and/or there are many MXF
files.
Note:
Depending upon the number of cartridges in each magazine
and the amount of content or data on each cartridge, the media
cartridge inventory may take up to forty minutes.
