Program Options

The program includes several command line options for accommodating XSOFT to the PC and to
the serial ports available.

A number from

1

to

4

specifies the serial port to be used for transmission

A larger number specifies the baud rate to be used. Recommended baud rates are

57600 38400

28800 19200

and

14400.

Any other baud rates may be specified too, but often these

cannot be set accurately by the PC

The switch

-b

configures the program for blind mode. To save PC resources, the time-critical

screen updates are suppressed. This mode is recommended for PCs with lower clock
frequencies or marginal CRT controllers

Example

The command line

1202_25 2 38400 –b

installs software version 2.5 on an SDIF2 ZOMBIE 1202. The PC uses serial port COM2 with a
baud rate of 38400. Blind mode is active.

Note: It is important not to accidentally load the software of the wrong unit. ZOMBIEs reject the
update, but ABACUS 1201 and COMMANDER 1220 at first seem to accept erroneous software,
only to crash after rebooting.

Regardless of previous mishaps it is always possible to start over and re-install the correct
software. Permanent damage is absolutely impossible with XSOFT, no matter how many goof-
ups the unit has been exposed to.
