The position of the word clock (»WC«) is adjusted by means of an 8 bit counter (7bits plus sign),
which is driven from the 256 graduation word clock. The sign bit drives the BNC word clock
driver. This counter is loaded with the desired offset value at the start of the SDIF-2 frame, and then
runs through all 256 counter readings without reference to an external source. The scale runs
straight from +127 to –128 for ease of use.
The first value in the display is the counter start value, which may be either positive or negative, the
second is the deviation calculated from this relative to a word clock period in %.
When the word clock is set to
0 0%
the word clock rising edge comes at the same time as the
start of the SDIF-2 frame, e.g. at the end of the second 1½ cell. The adjustment
-128 50%
corresponds to a complete inversion of the word clock signal at the BNC output.
