SECTION 3
OPERATING PRINTER

Feeder Setup, AS-FDR14 (EasyFeed 140) - optional
Please refer to the Operations Manual that came with the Feeder, for Feeder setup and operating instructions.
Positioning the Feeder and Media Input
Place the AS-FDR14 (EasyFeed 140) Feeder onto the RS-140 Feeder Stand and position it at the input side of the
Printer, as shown below.
The Feeder in normally positioned so it is centered on the input of the printer.
However, it is OK to move the Feeder, to fine-adjust media alignment with the input of the Printer.
Media must enter between the Printer’s Left and Right Media Side Guides, as shown below.
Operational Sequence:
1.
Set Feeder’s Speed Control Dial to zero (lowest setting).
2.
Set Feeder’s “Stand Alone” switch to zero (0), so Printer can control (start/stop) Feeder.
3.
Turn Feeder Power ON.
4.
Send job to Printer.
NOTE: Printer transport will automatically start if “Automatic Feed Start” is selected in “Printing
Preferences”. Press PAUSE, on Printer, to stop Printer transport.
5.
Set desired Printer Belt Speed.
6.
Press RUN, on Printer, to start Printer transport.
7.
Slowly increase the Feeder Speed, using the Feeder’s Speed Control Dial.
Adjust Feeder speed to desired setting. Make sure you have at least a 1-2” gap between pieces of Media.
8.
Feeder start/stop can now be controlled by Printer.
For example, pressing PAUSE on Printer will stop Feeder. Pressing RUN on Printer will start Feeder.
NOTES
: Printer does NOT control Feeder speed. If you change the Belt Speed on the Printer you will need to
go through the above sequence again. When you press RUN on the Printer, there will be a small delay in
Feeder start to allow the Printer transport to get up-to-speed. When you press PAUSE on the Printer the
Feeder will stop immediately but Printer transport will continue for a few seconds to clear Media from Printer.
IMPORTANT:
•
Make sure the appropriate Feeder Interface cable is attached between Printer and Feeder.
•
Make sure Feeder’s “Stand Alone” switch is set to zero (0), so printer can control (start/stop) Feeder.
•
Make sure Feeder’s transport speed is set slower than the Printer’s transport speed, in order to generate
at least a 1-2” gap between pieces.
