Keying Options
For Elecraft rigs, there are two options:
1. (Recommended) Connect from the SideKar
Decoder Edition RIG RS232 port to the rig via the
ACC port
Plug your paddle into the rig and control the speed,
mode and paddle configuration using the
rig’s controls.
The rig will do the keying using the ACC port and the
SideKar Extreme’s keyer is not used. Rig control and
displaying decoded characters will be available. This is
the recommended setup as rig control and displaying
decoded characters will be available.
In this mode, the CW keyer functions from the keyboard
are NOT available.
Use the rig’s controls instead.
2. No Connection from the SideKar Decoder Edition
to the rig via the ACC port
Plug your paddle into the PADDLE port on the right side
of the SideKar
Decoder Edition and connect a mono or
stereo cable with 3.5mm connectors (right-angle is
best) from the KEYOUT port to your rig’s key input. Set
the rig to straight key for the paddle keying mode.
In this manner the keying is done by the built-in CW
keyer and the functions above (speed, mode, paddle
swap) are accessible from the keyboard.
Since the Elecraft ACC port is not in use, control of the
rig and display of decoded characters are not possible,
which is why this method is not recommended.
