Simply stop typing. The rig will go back into the receive
mode approximately 4 seconds after the last character
was received by the rig. This allows you to take a
breath between words and still stay in the transmit
mode on the rig. Note that this is an Elecraft feature
built into the rig.
Note: For Elecraft RTTY and PSK
sending…When sending text
from the rig directly, you send CW with paddles. The rig does
the translation from CW to the mode you are in (PSK31,
PSK63, RTTY, CW). As such, there is no way to differentiate
upper and lower case letters. All letters are sent using lower
case. The
SideKar
Decoder Edition
uses the same features in
the rig, and the result, as you might have guessed, is the
same. All characters are sent lower case, regardless of
whether you type upper or lower case on the keyboard.
Note: While buffering the characters, they are not being sent
and the person on the receiving side of your QSO will not
receive anything. So, you may want to choose the number of
buffered characters to balance the ability to fix things vs making
the other person wait and wonder what’s going on.
Viewing Characters Sent
You have the option of seeing characters you are sending on
the SideKar
Decoder Edition
screen or not. On the
keyboard, press
ALT-E
to toggle between seeing the
characters sent and not seeing them.
Note: the Alt-E command has no effect if connected to a K3 or
K3S. Transmitted characters are always displayed.
