2.3 Room ventilation
❖
The appliance must be installed and operated in constantly ventilated rooms only.
The appliance must not be installed in a bed sitting room with a volume of
less
than 20 m
3
.
❖
Sufficiently ventilated rooms are required for proper operation. Rooms, in which
gas-operated appliances are installed and operated, must be supplied with at least
that quantity of fresh air which is required to operate the appliance. When any
other fuels burning appliances are operated in the same room, the exhaust
requirements of these appliances
must
be included when calculating the required
air vent.
❖
The fresh air must flow through the openings of the outer walls directly. This
opening / these openings should be performed in such a way, that it/they cannot
be blocked neither from inside nor from outside.
❖
So, you must provide openings for the supply of fresh air, which meet the
following requirements:
a.
free total cross-section of 6 cm
2
per kW with at least 100 cm
2
(these openings
may be provided by enlarging the space between door and floor).
b.
the openings must be in the lower section of an outer wall, preferably
opposite the wall where the combustion products are discharged.
c.
the openings must be placed in such a way that they cannot be blocked. If
they are placed in an outer wall, they must be protected (along the outer
perimeter of the wall) by a metal grid or similar objects.
If an electric fan for the product discharge is installed, the openings for the air
exchange must have an air flow rate of at least 35 m
3
/h per kW of installed
capacity.
Installation and maintenance must only be carried out by a qualified
professional relevant to the current local and legal regulations.
2.3.1 Connection of product discharge (extractor hood)
❖
Gas cookers must discharge their combustion products by means of extractor
hoods that are connected to smoke outlets
or
lead to the outside directly (s. fig.
below). The required safety distance between the extractor hood and the gas
cooker
must be at least 760 mm
.
