Setting the PQLS function
PQLS (P r ecision Qua r tz Lock System) is a digital audio
signal t r ansfe r cont r ol technology using the
Control
with
HDMI function. It offe r s highe r -quality audio p layback by
cont r olling audio signals f r om the r eceive r to a PQLS
com p atible p laye r , etc. This enables r emoving jitte r that
has a negative effect on the quality of the sound and is
gene
r ated u p on t r ansmission.
• SC-37 only: On p laye r s com p atible with PQLS Bit-
st r eam, PQLS always wo r ks fo r all sou r ces.
• On p laye r s com p atible with PQLS Multi Su rr ound,
PQLS wo r ks fo r all sou r ces. Set the p laye r ’s audio
out p ut to Linea r PCM.
• On p laye r s com p atible with PQLS 2 ch Audio, PQLS
only wo r ks when p laying CDs.

This function is activated when
Control
is set to
ON
.

• Set the remote control to the receiver operation
mode, then press PQLS to select the PQLS setting.
The setting is dis p layed on the f r ont p anel dis p lay.
• PQLS AUTO – PQLS is enabled. A pr ecision qua r tz
cont r olle r in this r eceive r eliminates disto r tion
caused by timing e rr o r s (jitte r ), giving you the best
p ossible digital-to-analog conve r sion when you use
the HDMI inte r face. This is valid as an HDMI function
fo r PQLS-com p atible p laye r s.

PQLS OFF
– PQLS is disabled.
Cautions on the Control with HDMI
function
• Connect the TV di r ectly to this r eceive r . Inte rr u p ting a
di r ect connection with othe r am p s o r an AV conve r te r
(such as an HDMI switch) can cause o p e r ational
e rr o r s.
• Only connect com p onents (Blu- r ay disc p laye r , etc.)
you intend to use as a sou r ce to the HDMI in p ut of
this r eceive r . Inte rr u p ting a di r ect connection with
othe r am p s o r an AV conve r te r (such as an HDMI
switch) can cause o p e r ational e rr o r s.
• When Control is set to ON , HDMI In p ut in

on p age 45 is automatically set to OFF .
• When the r eceive r ’s

ON
, even if the
r eceive r ’s p owe r is in the standby mode, it is p ossible
to out p ut the audio and video signals f r om a p laye r
via HDMI to the TV without pr oducing sound f r om the
r eceive r , but only when a
Control
with HDMI-
com p atible com p onent (Blu- r ay disc p laye r , etc.) and
com p atible TV a r e connected. In this case, the
r eceive r ’s p owe r tu r ns on and the p owe r and
HDMI
indicato r s light.
