Important
• The pr ocedu r e fo r setting the r eceive r o p e r ation
mode diffe r s fo r the r emote cont r ols included with
the SC-37 and SC-35. Fo r the SC-37’s r emote cont r ol,
set the r emote cont r ol o p e r ation selecto r switch to
RECEIVER . Fo r the SC-35’s r emote cont r ol, pr ess the
button. When “set the r emote cont r ol to
the r eceive r o p e r ation mode” is indicated in these
inst r uctions, use the r es p ective pr ocedu r e desc r ibed
above.
Making receiver settings from the
System Setup menu
The following section desc r ibes how to change the
s p eake r - r elated settings manually and make va r ious
othe r settings (in p ut selection, OSD language selection,
etc.).
1 Switch on the receiver and your TV.
Make su r e that the TV’s video in p ut is set to this r eceive r .
2 Set the remote control to the receiver operation
mode, then press HOME MENU.

3 Select ‘System Setup’ from the Home Menu, then
press ENTER.
4 Select the setting you want to adjust.
•
Manual SP Setup
– Sets the ty p e of connection used
fo r su rr ound back te r minals and the size, numbe r
distance and ove r all balance of the connected
s p eake r s (see
Manual speaker setup
below).
• Input Setup – S p ecifies what you’ve connected to
the digital, HDMI and com p onent video in p uts (see
The Input Setup menu on p age 45).
• OSD Language – The GUI sc r een’s dis p lay language
can be changed (see Changing the OSD display
language (OSD Language) on p age 43).
• Network Setup – Conducts the setu p necessa r y to
connect this unit to the netwo r k (see
Network Setup
menu
on p age 117).
•
Other Setup
– Makes customized settings to r eflect
how you a r e using the r eceive r (see
The Other Setup
menu
on p age 119).
Manual speaker setup
This r eceive r allows you to make detailed settings to
o p timize the su rr ound sound p e r fo r mance. You only need
to make these settings once (unless you change the
p lacement of you r cu rr ent s p eake r system o r add new
s p eake r s).
These settings a r e designed to customize you r system,
but if you’ r e satisfied with the settings made in
Automatically conducting optimum sound tuning (Full
Auto MCACC)
on p age 43, it isn’t necessa r y to make all of
these settings.
CAUTION
• The test tones used in the Manual SP Setup a r e
out p ut at high volume.
1 Select ‘Manual SP Setup’, then press ENTER.

2 Select the setting you want to adjust.
If you a r e doing this fo r the fi r st time, you may want to
adjust these settings in o r de r :
•
Speaker System
– S p ecifies how you a r e using you r
su rr ound back s p eake r s ( p age 115).
•
Speaker Setting
– S p ecifies the size and numbe r of
s p eake r s you’ve connected ( p age 115).
• Channel Level – Adjusts the ove r all balance of you r
s p eake r system ( p age 116).
• Speaker Distance – S p ecifies the distance of you r
s p eake r s f r om the listening p osition ( p age 116).
•
X-Curve
– Adjusts the tonal balance of you r s p eake r
system fo r movie soundt r acks ( p age 117).
•
THX Audio Setting
– S p ecifies whethe r you a r e
using a THX s p eake r setu p ( p age 117).
3 Make the adjustments necessary for each setting,
pressing RETURN to confirm after each screen.
