Data Storage Settings

The Detective X can store survey data on either the rear-panel USB flash drive (see Figure 5 or Figure 6) or

the internal “My Documents” folder. This behavior is set by tapping

from the Advanced setup

screen.

Select the desired destination (“External USB Flash Drive” versus “Internal Memory (My Documents)”), then

select

to apply the changes. Note if External USB Flash Drive is selected, a USB must be installed in the

rear-panel. If the instrument being used has the enhanced communication design (the enhanced design can

be identified by the presence of 2 USB ports on the communication panel as seen in Figure 6), it is

recommended that the USB be installed in port in the middle of the panel. Also note that the USB flash drive

used must be an ORTEC approved flash drive. Contact an ORTEC representative for more information.

The

screen also provides an interface to automatically archive N42 survey files via the

“Maximum N42 Files in Data Folder (0 to 1000)” field. This interface will automatically archive all survey files

when the destination folder (be it “...\<USB Flash>\Data\” or “...\My Documents\Data\”) reaches the number

of files defined here (500 in this example). The archive will be created in a new “Data#” folder within the
