1107231N / 082020 4. DETECTIVE X APPLICATION
45
Figure 56. ID Mode Screen
For best results, position the Detective X as close as reasonably possible to low-activity sources.
For high-activity sources, a
WARNING! Move Back
message may be displayed above the
Status:
READY
indicator if the instrument is too close. Better ID performance will be obtained if, before
entering ID Mode, the instrument is moved back from the source until the message disappears.
If alarm acknowledgement is enabled (Section 4.5.1), the
Ack
(acknowledge) button will be displayed
(refer back to Figure 52) and each ID must be acknowledged before proceeding, just as in Detect
Mode.
—
The
Ack
button can be red (indicating a Threat source), yellow (indicating a Suspect source), or
green (indicating an Innocent source). When the
Ack
button has focus, the color becomes
slightly muted. That is, red becomes violet, yellow becomes khaki, and green becomes light
green. This is intended to show focus much like the blue shading shows focus on the other user
interface buttons.
While acquiring data in ID Mode, the spectrum can be viewed in real time by tapping the
Spectrum
radio button (Section 4.7.1); or tap
Intense
to view the 10 highest-confidence gamma-ray lines in real
time (Section 4.7.2).
Quick Save
— This button is only available when
Multiple Spectrum ID Mode
is disabled. It saves the
survey data as an N42 file (with background) but does not stop the acquisition. The user can then
temporarily remove the USB flash drive and take it to an external PC or phone.
If the “Show Spectrum File Details Dialog for Quick Save” option is enabled within the
Data Storage
settings dialog (see Section 4.4.2), then the user will be prompted to enter the metadata (i.e.,
Location, Item Description, Conditions) as shown in Figure 61, that will be saved along with the
radiological data in the Quick Save N42.42 file. Any information here will be retained as the default
information displayed when the complete survey is ended. Data acquisition will continue with the
Detective X until the current survey is complete (i.e., until either the preset count time is reached, or
it is manually ended by selecting
End Now
). After the current survey is complete, the instrument will
continue on its normal course of events. After all survey data is acquired, metadata entered, and the
USB flash drive re-mounted in the Detective X rear panel, select
Finalize
. The Detective X will save
the complete survey to the USB flash drive.
