7.10 Sterilization
 Ethylene oxide gas sterilization
The endoscope can be sterilized by ethylene oxide gas. Prior to sterilization,
perform the suitable process which is recommended by the regulation/guideline
in your region.
• To ensure sterilization, dry the endoscope and all equipment
before ethylene oxide gas sterilization.
• Exceeding the recommended parameters may cause
equipment damage.
• Attach the ETO cap to the endoscope connector before
sterilizing. If the ETO cap is not attached on the endoscope
during sterilization, the vacuum created within the
sterilization chamber can rupture the covering of the bending
section.
• Regarding the condition of ethylene oxide gas sterilization,
refer to Section 6.7, “Ethylene oxide gas sterilization” on
page 42.

Dry the endoscope before ethylene oxide gas sterilization.
2.
Attach the ETO cap to the venting connector before ethylene oxide gas
sterilization.
3.
Place the endoscope into the sterilization tray (WA05991A). Seal the
sterilization tray with sterilizing foil for ethylene oxide gas sterilization.
4.
Sterilize the package according to the recommended ethylene oxide gas
exposure parameters described in Section 6.7, “Ethylene oxide gas
sterilization” on page 42 and the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions.
5.
Aerate the components following the minimum aeration parameters
specified in Section 6.7, “Ethylene oxide gas sterilization” on page 42.
6.
Store the components following the instructions given in Chapter 9,
“Storage, Transporting Outside the Hospital and Disposal”.
