4.
Transport the endoscope and the container containing the other equipment
to the reprocessing area.
7.4
Transportation of the endoscope
Transporting within the hospital
• After Section 7.3, “Precleaning” on page 52, keep the endoscope in a
container (WA05991A) with a lid to avoid possible environmental or
personnel contamination during transportation. Transport the
endoscope from the point of use to the reprocessing area.
• When carrying the endoscope by hand, loop the universal cord, hold the
light guide connector together with the control section in one hand and
hold the distal end of the insertion tube securely, but gently without
squeezing, with the video connector in the other hand (see Figure 7.6).
Figure 7.6
• Transport reusable products (except endoscope) from the point of use to
the reprocessing area.
• Equipment can be transported in a wet or dry condition.
• If the instruments are kept in dry condition, make sure that debris on the
instrument does not solidify. Close the container’s lid. Start the cleaning
procedure (Section 7.6, “Manual cleaning” on page 60) immediately
after use (within 3 hours). If the cleaning procedure is delayed, the user
has to take special action to get an appropriate cleaning result.
• If instruments are kept in a wet condition, start the following cleaning
procedure within 1 hour after use. Do not use physiological saline
solution for immersion.
• If transporting instruments in wet condition, the temperature of the
liquids in which the instruments are placed should not exceed 20
C.
