TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Under certain conditions, the performance of the camera may be adversely affected by factors other than defects.
If problems occur, please review the following list and take remedial action as needed. If you cannot solve the
problem after checking the entire list, please contact Olympus for assistance.

a) The control box buttons do
not work.
The main switch of the control box is not
ON.
Set the main switch to “ ” (ON).
The AC adapter is not connected properly.
Connect it properly to the control box
and to the power outlet.
The PC is connected to the control box
through a USB 2.0 cable, setting the
camera system for PC control.
Operate the camera system from the
utility software running on the PC.
To operate the camera system from the
control box, set the main switch to “ ”
(OFF), unplug the USB 2.0 cable and set
the main switch to “ ” (ON) again.
The display resolution is inappropriate
and the picture is not displayed.
Set the display resolution properly.
b) Picture cannot be recorded
by pressing the EXPOSE
button.
Data is being written in the CF card.
Release the EXPOSE button and wait
for more than 1 second before pressing
the EXPOSE button again.
If the memory gauge bar indicates the
full condition (4 bars), wait until the
indication becomes 0.
The CF card is full.
Use another CF card, erase unwanted
pictures, or down load existing pictures
to the PC then erase all pictures in the
CF card.
The CF card is not inserted properly.
Insert it completely.
c) Picture cannot be played on
the display screen.
The main switch of the control box is not
ON or the camera system is not in PLAY
mode.
Set the main switch to “ ” (ON).
Select PLAY mode.
No data has been recorded in the CF
card.
Check the number of remaining pictures.
d) The display shows nothing.
The display is not ON.
Turn the display ON.
The display resolution is inappropriate.
Set the display resolution properly.
The display is set to the SLEEP mode.
Set a proper sleep time.
e) The picture is not in focus.
The microscope is not focused properly.
Adjust the focus correctly with the fine
adjustment knob.
The confocality is adjusted improperly.
Perform the confocal adjustment with the
TV adapter.
The aperture iris diaphragm of the
condenser is open too wide.
Close the aperture iris diaphragm a little.
The field iris diaphragm is not set properly.
Adjust the field iris diaphragm until the
image circumscribes the field of view.
Lens components of the microscope are
contaminated or the cover glass on the
bottom of the camera head is stained.
Clean the objective, photography lens,
condenser and/or window lens of the
microscope, or clean the cover glass on
the bottom of the camera head.
