the interior of the respirator. This can be done with water, and will remove any small
obstruction that is keeping the inhalation valve from closing in an air-tight manner.
d.
On the respirator, the apex of the head straps should sit on the crown of the head and
not off to one side or the other.
e.
Check the manufacturer’s recommendation for properly donning a respirator and
ensure that the user has been properly trained in donning that respirator as part of the
regulations. All straps must be pulled with equal tension at each point.
3. Adapter Fault
a. The adapters must be kept clean and in good shape.
b. Disconnect and reconnect all tubes to make sure the connectors “snap” into place. Hold
the assembly by the tubes rather than the metal connector.
c. If the adapter had been dropped or crushed, a hairline crack might cause leakage.
d. To verify the adapter is air-tight, connect only the blue tube to the adapter with the
single tube connection. Submerge the adapter and tube connection completely under
water. Then press and hold the SEAL CHECK button for at least 5 seconds. Repeat this
several times. If bubbles are seen coming from the adapter, there is a leak in the
diaphragm or in the eight screws holding the top plate on. Replace the diaphragm and
tighten screws firmly. Conduct the test again to ensure no bubbles are seen.
e. Check all screws and connectors. If the screws on the top of the adapter are not tight,
or if the connector ports can be turned by hand, this means they are not tight enough
and may be introducing a leak into the system.
Verification Check Errors
The Daily Verification Check normally functions to completion without any intervention from
the Operator. However, occasional problems may arise. The calibration procedure may stop
abruptly or display an error message.
Possible Problem:
o
Something has blocked or partially obstructed the leak orifice on the Dual Tube Assembly
and has rendered the tube out of tolerance.
o
Pressure in the transducer has not been zeroed.
o
The transducer needs factory calibration.
o
Blockage of exhaust port.
Possible Solution:
o
Turn QuantiFit2 off at the power switch, wait 15 seconds, power on the Quantifit, and retry
Verification Check.
