2.2.3

Power-Up Sequence

When the steering system is powered-up, each BIU performs a series of self-test
routines before entering normal operation:

BIU Power-Up

Sequence

All display segments are briefly activated and a
short beep is sounded.

The unit’s current functional configuration
(SMS, SPS, etc.) and the software version and
date are shown in the status line.

The unit’s ROM is tested. The status line dis-
plays „TEST ROM“.

The unit’s RAM is tested. Upon completion, the
status line displays „RAM 511 KB OK“.

The unit’s EEPROM is tested. The status line
displays „TEST EEPROM“.

The unit configuration settings are read from
the EEPROM. The status line displays „READ
EEPROM“.

The unit attaches to the NAVINET 4000 Steer-
ing Control Network and claims a network
address from the master SCU. Upon comple-
tion, the status line displays „CAN COMMUNI-
CATIONS OK!“.

The unit takes up normal operation. The status
line displays the currently active steering mode
and position (if the unit has come into control,
the status line displays „ACTIVE“).
