Operation:
After the above start-up procedures have been satisfactorily performed, the reclaim
system is ready for operation. As long as the water level in the reclaim tank is
above the low-low level switch, the reclaim system will continuously run … even if
there is no wash demand. Continuously recirculating water through the cyclones
with the biological / odor control system is necessary to control the solids loading
and the biological growth in the reclaim water.
Drawing #1M
shows the reclaim system when there is demand from the wash. The
VFD will speed up the pump motor and the motorized ball valve opens allowing
reclaim water to be treated by all the cyclones
(Note:
The PW100-M5 series does
not have a motorized ball valve.) Treated water passes on to the wash and through
the recirculation line to the reclaim tank. The cyclone underflow with the separated
solids flows to the catch basin.
Drawing #2M
shows the reclaim system when there is no car wash demand and
the system is recirculating water only. The VFD controls the pump motor at a slow
speed and the motorized ball valve is closed so that only one cyclone is treating
the reclaim water. (Note: The PW100-M5 series does not have a motorized ball
valve.) Treated water passes through the recirculation line to the reclaim tank. The
cyclone underflow with the separated solids flows to the catch basin.
Drawing #3M
shows the Automatic Prime function to prime the pump. By
depressing the Pump Prime button on the front of the control box, the ¼” solenoid
valve on the city water line is opened and allows water to flow into the suction
piping and strainer basket. See Start-Up section for Pump Prime operation.
Drawing #4M
shows the water flow when the system automatically provides city
water bypass to the wash because there is no reclaim water available from the
reclaim tank. The low-low level switch in the reclaim tank trips indicating the water
level has dropped and the Warning Light will flash. The 2” solenoid valve on the
city water line opens and allows city water to be used when demanded by the
wash. The system will shut down the reclaim pump to prevent damage from
running the pump dry. Once the water level rises to satisfy the low-low level switch,
the reclaim pump will restart and the 2” brass solenoid valve will close. The by-
pass function will also activate when the pressure switch on the pump trips
indicating low pressure (lack of water or prime). If the pressure switch trips, the
system must be reset by turning the Control Switch to Off, then back to Auto, and
depressing the Prime Button to initiate the Automatic Prime function. When
performing maintenance on the reclaim system, the Control Switch can be placed
in the “Hand” position and the system will be in by-pass mode with an activation
signal. Returning the Control Switch to “Auto” and depressing the Prime Button will
initiate the Automatic Prime function, and return the system to its normal operating
mode.
