Start-Up:
After the reclaim has been set into place, all the piping connections have been
made, all the control and electrical connections have been made, and the reclaim
tanks are filled with water, the system is ready for start-up.
1)
Check Pump Rotation:
Turn the Power Switch to the “On” position and the
Control Switch to the “Auto” position briefly to determine the rotation of the
pump. An arrow on the pump casing (basket strainer side) indicates the correct
rotation for the pump. If the pump is not rotating in the correct direction, reverse
the power connections until the correct rotation is achieved.
(Note:
The pump will only come on if there is water in the reclaim tank to satisfy
the low-low level switch, or if the low-low level switch is manually overridden.)
2)
Pump Prime:
After the reclaim tank has been filled with water, the pump can
be primed and started. Ensure that any valve on the pump inlet piping is open
and that there are no restrictions on the recirculation line. To activate the
automatic prime function, place the Control Switch in the Auto position and
immediately press the Pump Prime button once. The ¼” solenoid valve on the
city water line will open and start filling the suction line and basket strainer, and
the green light will blink. Allow the basket strainer to overflow with water before
tightening the lid so trapped air can escape. The pressure switch will monitor
the pressure and turn on the pump when the pressure exceeds 7 psig. After a
30 second delay, the pressure switch will monitor the discharge pressure and
turn the pump off if the pressure goes below 3 psig. If the pump is turned off,
the automatic prime function will need to be initiated again.
The system can also be primed manually. Place the Control Switch in the Hand
position and continuously press the prime button on the control panel. The ¼”
solenoid will open to allow city water into the suction piping and basket strainer,
and the pump will start up. Once the pump catches prime, discontinue pressing
the priming button and place the Control Switch to Auto.
The discharge pump pressure should read 15-20 psig when the system is in
Recirculation mode, and should read 50-55 psig when at full speed. The pump
should keep its prime when turned off provided the foot valve in the reclaim
tank is operating properly.
(Note:
Do not run the pump dry for more than one minute to prevent damage to
the pump and pump seal. Re-fill the suction piping and basket strainer with
water before restarting the pump.)
3)
Leak Check:
After the pump has caught prime and is flowing water through the
system, check for leaks in the piping and around the cyclones. A leak check
