Note:

Use barring tool F6555766.

Engage barring device (2) in ring gear of fly-
wheel and mount on flywheel housing.

Fit ratchet (1) on barring device.

Note:

No resistance other than compression resist-
ance may be encountered.

Rotate crankshaft in engine direction of rota-
tion.

Result:

If the resistance exceeds the normal com-
pression resistance, contact Service.

For barring-tool removal follow reverse se-
quence of working steps.

Barring engine manually (instal-
lation on lower side)

Remove grounding device or guard panel.

Note:

Use barring device F6783293.

Engage barring device (2) with ring gear (3)
and mount on flywheel housing.

Set ratchet (1) onto barring device (2).

Note:

Rotate crankshaft in engine direction of rota-
tion.
