8.18 Fan Drive

8.18.1 Fan drive – Drive belt tension check / adjustment

Preconditions

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

Preparatory steps

Remove protective cover.

Check belt condition visually (→ Page 92).

Result:

For drive belt replacement (→ Page 154).

Version A – fan drive with belt tensioning pulley

Adjusting fan height

Release screws (2) but keep them in position.

Relieve tensioning screw (1) and, if necessa-
ry, shift fan clutch (3) downwards.

Readjust height of fan clutch (3) with tension-
ing screw (1) until dimension A corresponds
to the dimension specified in the relevant in-
stallation drawing.

Tighten screws (2) to specified torque using a torque wrench.
