AES

Is a standard for the exchange of digital audio signals be

tween professional audio devices. AES was jointly developed

by the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the European

Broadcasting Union (EBU). Also known as AES3 or AES/EBU.

BNC

A round, quick connect/disconnect radio frequency con

nector used for coaxial cable. It features two bayonet lugs

on the female connector; mating is fully achieved with a

quarter turn of the coupling nut. The connector was named

the BNC (for Bayonet Neill–Concelman) after its bayonet

mount locking mechanism and its inventors, Paul Neill and

Carl Concelman.
