Linear Stepper Function
The linear stepper function will adjust the energy delivered to each weld by the percentage specified in
the stepper setup for all welds within
the first
step. For all remaining steps, the current will be
incremented or decremented in a linear fashion and will reach the desired %heat for that step at the end
of each step.

The linear stepper function also allows the operator to enter a count (
0 - 99
) for the number of times for
which
STEP 2
is to be executed. Each time through
STEP 2
, the current will be set to the %heat for
STEP 1
and will ramp up to the %heat for
STEP 2
. This will be repeated until the counter goes to
0
and
will then continue on to the next step.
Tip Dress Warning
You can program a series of points along the stepper line where the electrodes will need to be “dressed”
or cleaned.
To turn
the tip dress function
ON
at the
end of a step, highlight on the
X
in the
TD
field on the stepper screen.

At the end of that particular step, the
Power Supply will stop welding and will
display an error message indicating that a
tip dress is required. An external reset
must
be done for welding to continue.

Cap Change Warning
The linear stepper function also allows
the operator to enter a count (
0 - 9999
)
indicating the number of welds, before
the end of all welds in the last step,
which will trigger a warning indicating
approaching a cap change. This will
not
cause welding to stop.
