I/O NUMBER ASSIGNMENT
(2) Precautions for I/O assignment
(a) I/O-assigned slot status
When I/O assignment is set for a slot, the setting has priority over the actual
module-mounting status.
1) When the set number of points is less than the points of the actual I/O module
The I/O points for the actual module are decreased.
For example, if a slot in which a 32-point input module is mounted is set as a
16-point input module in I/O assignment, 16 points of the last half cannot be
used.
2) When the set number of points is less than the points of an actual intelligent
function module
An intelligent function module assignment error (error code: 2100, SP.UNIT
LAY ERR.) occurs.
3) When the set number of points is greater than the points of the actual I/O
module
The excess points are not used by the I/O module.
4) Consistency between the actual and assigned module types
The type of the module actually mounted must be the same with the type set in
the I/O assignment settings.
A difference between them will cause malfunction.
For intelligent function modules, the I/O points must be also consistent.
Table 7.1 lists the operational behaviors that occur when the type of the
mounted module is different from the type set in the I/O assignment settings.
