
The “PTP Mode” can be switched between PTP_MASTER and PTP_SLAVE. The
“Preferred Master Flag” decides if this master will be the first in the “Best Master
Algorithm” which choose the grandmaster in a PTP network – this flag can be
enabled or disabled. The “Sync Interval” determine how fast the PTP packets will be
send by the Grandmaster and will be configured as a value of power of 2.
The “PTP Sub Domain” will determine which Multicast address will be used by the
PTP Grandmaster. The PTP IEEE1588 supports 4 Multicast addresses: _DFLT,
_ALT1, _ALT2, _ALT3.

Optionally there could be added some PTPv2 TSU cards to the system. The
following menus will be displayed if one or more PTPv2 cards were found. The main
difference to the PTPv1 TSU cards is that the PTPv1 TSU cards are passive. The PTP
software stack is running on the main CPU of the M900. The PTPv2 TSU cards have
their own CPU and its own operating system. The PTPv2 software is running on its
own processor. So it is possible to use more than one PTP TSU card in one system
and all the cards have their own network parameters like Hostname, Domainname,
and Nameserver. The basic configuration will be done via the front panel – all further
parameters can be configured via the WEB interface.
Every PTPv2 TSU card has its own sub menu to show the current status and the
configuration of the PTP and network parameters.
With the sub menu “TSU 1” some current states of the PTP software on this special
card will be displayed.
The „State:“ will show the current PTP state MASTER, SLAVE, LISTENING and
PASSIVE. The second line will show the current time offset to the PTP grandmaster.
The Parameter Delay will reflect the path delay between Master and slave. The last
line shows the GM UUID: this is the MAC address of the current PTP Grandmaster in
your network.
