Defining Missing Geometry (Points, Lines and
Planes)
In the measurement procedures above, points, lines and planes are defined by
clicking a point within the displayed point cloud. This is the default mode for the
Measurement Tool.
However, in some cases, selecting points by clicking them may not be possible due
to missing data, or uncertainty regarding which exact pixel/point should be
selected.
For example, measuring the distance between the floor and the ceiling along a
room's corners requires selecting the ceiling’s corner point, where two walls and
the ceiling meet. Finding the point that lies exactly at the intersection of the walls
within the cloud is difficult and impossible when the specific point is missing.
To overcome such difficulties, the Measurement Tool enables you to define
points, lines and planes using the intersections of other geometric primitives, as
described below.
Finding Missing Points

To find the ceiling’s corner (based on the example above):

Click the icon on the Measurement toolbar.

Define the floor of the room as a plane.

Press Enter. The floor's plane is defined.

Click the Choose a point by three planes option on the Point toolbar.

Define each of the three intersecting planes in any order (the ceiling and the
two walls).

Press Enter after each plane has been defined to continue to the next plane.
Pressing Enter after defining the third plane produces the intersection as a
point.
