Overview
This procedure is used to clear an
unexpected CP type
alarm
indicated by a lighted Critical (
CR/MJ
) or Minor (
MN/ABN
) LED on
the SYSCTL faceplate, and reported as critical or minor in the
WaveStar
®
CIT Alarm list.
Before you begin

Complete the following steps to clear an
unexpected CP type
alarm.

From the WaveStar
®
CIT System View, click the
Alarm List
button
and locate the
unexpected CP type
alarm in the resulting alarm list.

Determine the alarm level(s) for the active
unexpected CP type
alarm(s) (for example, CR or MN). Clear the alarms in order of
severity, CR (SA) and then MN (NSA).
Important! The
unexpected CP type
alarm is generally either
CR (SA) when the circuit pack is active (either working and
unprotected or the protection switch failed) or MN (NSA) when
the circuit pack is protected and protection switch operated
normally.

Refer to the Probable Cause column in the alarm list, and note the
corresponding slot AID.

Using office records, determine the correct circuit pack type for the
required slot.

5
Compare the correct circuit pack type from office records with the
circuit pack that is physically in the required slot.
