Caring for your print cartridges

Improving print quality
If your print quality is not satisfactory, you may need to refresh your
print cartridge. A simple cartridge alignment may improve your print
quality. However, if your printer still is not printing to your
satisfaction, you may need to clean the print nozzles.
Aligning your print cartridge
When you install a new print cartridge, you should use the Align
Cartridges feature to help align the printhead. This ensures that you get
the best print quality from your Lexmark Z11 Series Color Jetprinter.

Use the Control Program to begin alignment. For help opening
the Control Program, see the tip in the shaded margin.
A dialog box appears on your screen. The printer prints a
test page with a group of patterns. Each pattern has a
number under it.

On the printed test page, locate the number under the pattern
that comes closest to forming a straight line. In the example
above, line 3 comes the closest to forming a straight line.
Click the
Cartridges
tab.
Select the
Align
Cartridges
button.
Tip
Align the print
cartridge when:
Vertical lines appear
“wavy.”
Tip
Print quality
suggestions:
• Make sure you are using a
paper intended for inkjet
printing.
• If you are using specialty
media, make sure the
print side is facing you.
