• If the server is installed with a PCIe card, remove the card. See “Removing the PCIe card” on page 56.
• If the server is installed with a PCIe-card-slot bracket, remove the screw that secures the bracket
and then remove the bracket from the chassis. Store it in case you later remove the PCIe card and
need the bracket to cover the place.

3. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new PCIe card to any unpainted surface on the
outside of the server. Then, take the new PCIe card out of the package.
Note: Carefully handle the PCIe card by its edges.
4. Connect any cables to the PCIe card if necessary. See “Connecting the cables” on page 19.
